JAXS, German Shepherd pup

I had never done a portrait of somebody's pet before, nor expect to do one in the future until now.  I was hesitant at first because I never owned a pet.  So I wasn't sure what to "look" for in terms of feeling, but I gave it a try!  Also, this pup was a true test using a manual focus lens because it required constant adjusting.

At this point I realized it was too hard to track Jaxs off the gate.  So I decided I should start with a "warm-up" to get me loose and into the photographer's game.  We took some still, portraits.

Once I warmed up, I figured I can shoot the pup playing with the duck.

After crawling around the grass getting my jeans dirty and being chased by the little pup, it was time to take a walk.

It was about time to wrap up and I got the cutest shot ever, but it's out of focus (in my opinion).

What's the puppy face for?
